Hello Artists and Community
This list below highlights all the great events happening during this year’s Sylvania Plein Air Festival. The festival kicks off on Sunday, July 28, and comes to a close on Saturday, August 3rd. Please note, some times and locations may change as we get closer to the event.
During the festival meet and mingle with the Plein Air artists painting our picturesque city from July 28th through the 31st. Artist Demos, a “Quick Draw Competition,” Kids Workshops, and a Meet + Mingle are hosted August 1. And finally, be sure to experience the full magic of the Sylvania Plein Air Festival by attending the opening exhibition of Plein Air paintings at Hudson Gallery, Fuller Art House, and The Art Supply Depo on Friday and Saturday August 2nd and 3rd. Artists works will remain up through August 10th.

Sunday, july 28
- 8AM – 1PM: Pre-Registered Artist Q&A, Check-in, Board Stamping at The Art Supply Depo.
- 8AM – 11AM: Free continental breakfast for artists at The Art Supply Depo
- 8AM – 5PM: Blacksmithing Shop in the Sylvania Historical Village open as an artist lounge
- 4-5PM: Pre-Registered Artist Q&A, Check-in, Board Stamping at The Art Supply Depo
- Artists Paint All Day in and around Sylvania. Night (Nocturne) painting allowed.
monday, july 29 & Tuesday, July 30
- 8AM – 10AM: Pre-Registered Artist Q&A, Check-in, Board Stamping at The Art Supply Depo
- 8AM – 5PM: Blacksmithing Shop in the Sylvania Historical Village open as an artist lounge
- 4-6PM: Pre-Registered Artist Q&A, Check-in, Board Stamping at The Art Supply Depo
- Artists Paint All Day in and around Sylvania. Night (Nocturne) painting allowed.
Wednesday, July 31
- 8AM – 10AM: Pre-Registered Artist Q&A, Check-in, Board Stamping at The Art Supply Depo
- 8AM – 3PM: Blacksmithing Shop in the Sylvania Historical Village open as an artist lounge
- Artists Paint in and around Sylvania.
- 3-5PM: Framing and submission form help courtesy of Hudson Gallery in at The Blacksmithing Shop in the Sylvania Historical Village. Note: artists are required to provide their own frames. Please plan in advance.
- 5-7PM: Artwork turn in for all artists. Location TBA.
- 7:30PM-8:30PM Purchase award painting sponsors select their paintings. Location TBA.
Thursday, August 1st
- 9AM – 10AM: Quick Draw Artist Registration.
Entry fee is $10 cash day of event. Location TBA. - 10AM – 12PM: Competition for Registered Artist Quick Draw.
- 12PM: Quick Draw Paintings Displayed on Artists Easels
- 12:00PM – 5:30 PM: Artists & Public vote for Quick Draw Winner
- 1PM – 2:30: Free Golden Artist Colors Demo for Registered Participants at Sylvania Public Library
- 3PM – 4:30: Free Additional Demos for Registered Participants TBA at Sylvania Public Library
- 5PM – 7PM: Artist Meet + Mingle
- 6PM: Quick Draw Winner announced at Meet + Mingle
Friday, August 2nd
- 5PM – 8PM: Exhibition and Sale Opens to the public in conjunction with Red Bird Sylvania First Friday
- 6PM: Award Ceremony with Juror Doreen St. John starts for youth at The Art Supply Depo. Award Ceremony progresses to Fuller Art House, then concludes Hudson Gallery
- 6:30PM – 8PM: Winning Artist Photographs with Doug Hinebaugh, Dougie Fresh Photography at the galleries.
Saturday, august 3RD
- 10AM – 5PM: Exhibition and sale of Professional and Emerging Artists continues at Hudson Gallery and Fuller Art House, Youth Exhibition continues at The Art Supply Depo.
- Exhibit will remain up through August 10th for Public Viewing.
- Pick-up for unsold artwork will be Aug 14 – 17th.
